Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis (also known as Hashimoto’s disease, autoimmune thyroiditis, or chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis) is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in the thyroid and a gradual destruction of thyroid tissue by the immune system. Hashimoto’s is a progressive disease with three stages, and like all autoimmune diseases it has different degrees of severity. While the allopathic medical community does not generally recognize these stages, we believe they are very helpful in diagnosing and treating Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis.
